Construction highs at Brent Cross Town
September 15, 2025
Over the past few months, Brent Cross Town has transformed into a busy neighbourhood welcoming new residents across a number of new buildings. Now we look ahead to our future office spaces as work progresses on our first commercial building and future home to a new University Campus.
Due to be completed next year, 3 Copper Square (previously known as Plot 1) will be the commercial heart of the development and future home to award-winning Sheffield Hallam University, providing space for their first campus outside of Sheffield right here in Brent Cross Town. The building is located adjacent to Brent Cross West station and will also have retail space on the ground floor.
On Wednesday 10 September, BAM, brought together colleagues from Barnet Council, Related Argent, Sheffield Hallam University and teams involved in the construction to celebrate the ‘topping out’ of the building, which is a construction milestone for when the structural frame is built, and teams can move on to the new phase of construction. Councillor Anne Clarke, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Sport led the topping out ceremony on behalf of Barnet Council to help mark this important moment in construction, and thank those that have helped reach this point, from the construction teams to the planners and designers.
At 3 Copper Square, the innovative techniques used during construction is a great example of how Brent Cross Town is establishing a new standard for large-scale urban regeneration. The cross-laminated timber used in construction alone has captured and stored almost 3,500 tonnes of CO2 over its lifetime, and Brent Cross Town will aim for a BREEAM rating of excellent once the building is complete.
Sheffield Hallam University, which will occupy part of the building on completion, has a strong record of supporting its local community which we look forward to extending for our existing and future residents.
This milestone closely follows the completion of our first student accommodation building with one of the UK’s leading residential and student housing developers, Fusion Group, welcoming their first residents earlier this month. This building currently offers accommodation for more than 600 students studying across London, and in future could include those studying at Sheffield Hallam’s new London campus.
