Neighbourhood Square officially opens

October 28, 2025

On Thursday 23 October, the local community came together to celebrate the official opening of Neighbourhood Square, a new public space at Brent Cross Town, and a striking new fountain.

Residents from the local area, as well as those now living in Brent Cross Town, were invited to join the festivities. Guests enjoyed sweet treats and warming drinks, while uplifting performances from  BIG Gospel Choir and Big Smoke Brass echoed through the space.

Neighbourhood Square sits at the heart of Brent Cross Town and will form part of the future high street. At the centre of the square you can’t miss The Fountain, a vibrant new artwork inspired by European piazzas.

The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet Councillor Danny Rich led the proceedings joined by Related Argent’s Chief Operating Officer, Morwenna Hall and The Fountain’s designer Mark Nixon, who explained the ambition behind the designs of the new space.

Crowds joined a countdown which bought The Fountain to life before a short fireworks display lit up the sky delighting everyone there.

Earlier this month, in celebration of the opening of Neighbourhood Square, residents living in and around the area were invited to be part of a specially commissioned photography exhibition to capture the vibrant character of the local community. Professional portraits were taken by renowned photographer Cesare di Giglio and unveiled at the official opening.

The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Danny Rich, said: “As well as our commitment to building quality homes, we must also have inspiring open spaces. We hope that local residents and visitors to Barnet will enjoy this new space and find opportunities to come together and make new connections.”

The opening of Neighbourhood Square marks a major milestone in the delivery of this new town centre for Barnet. With over a thousand people now calling Brent Cross Town their home it also adds to the community infrastructure built to ensure residents feel the benefit of the transformation of the area early on.

The opening came with the announcement of future new retailers including Co-Op who will open a local store by the end of the year and Urban Leisure Group who will open a new ‘social’ next year.
