Barnet Council and Related Argent teamed up with Brent Cross Town’s official heat network provider, Vattenfall to offer a total of £50,000 in individual grants to projects within Barnet. The Fund supports local charities and organisations that help connect people in Barnet with employment, education, training and skills opportunities.

The six winners were voted for by the local community through an online platform called Action Funder ensuring that the projects chosen reflect what’s important to people living and working in the local area. The winners showcase an impressive diversity of industries, from horticulture and creative arts to science, technology, and construction, reflecting how investing in employment and skills not only bridges the local skills gap but also creates opportunities and boosts the aspirations of our community.

The winning projects are:

  • Scope: A charity group that campaigns to transform attitudes to disability, tackle injustice and inspire action. Funding will provide personalised, flexible support to disabled people in Barnet, to help them secure, keep and progress through employment.
  • RC Vision CIC: RC Vision is a group that provides accessible, inclusive, and high-quality radio control car racing activities to help inspire children and young people of all backgrounds to explore the world of science and engineering. Funding will bring radio-controlled racing in Barnet with expert workshops facilitated this year.
  • Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm: Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm is a local community group sitting at the doorstep of Brent Cross Town. Funding will allow them to provide young people with volunteering and work experience in horticulture, catering, and customer service to build skills and confidence, while contributing to a vibrant community space.
  • Construction Youth Trust: This charity connects young people with employers and opportunities in construction. Their project will offer local secondary school students the opportunity to learn about the construction and development industry through a dedicated project at Brent Cross Town.
  • The Arts Depot Trust: The Arts Depot is an award-winning create centre in Barnet who will be providing participants with Special Education Needs access to training and work experience in the creative industries.
  • Yes Futures: Yes Futures is a charity run by qualified teachers to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds reach their full potential. Funding will deliver coaching, insights and work experience for local young people to build confidence, skills and career ambition across a variety of industries.

Councillor Anne Clarke, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts & Sport, said: “Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2025 Brent Cross Town Community Fund and to those who voted for their favourite projects. We received more applications this year than ever before and I’m delighted to see all the amazing initiatives which help deliver skills and create employment and training opportunities across Barnet. Well done to our winners, we look forward to seeing your work make a difference.”

Morwenna Hall, Executive Director and COO at Related Argent, added: “At Brent Cross Town, we believe it is vital to continue empowering our local community by equipping them with the tools to support their own careers and job prospects. By inviting residents to vote for the initiatives that matter most to them, we ensure that the Fund reflects genuine local priorities and gives everyone a voice in shaping our town’s future. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this year’s organisations will have, building on the fantastic successes we’ve witnessed in previous years.”

The Brent Cross Town Community Fund started in 2019 and has since supported 57 small charities, community organisations and individuals working to make a positive impact in the local area and has awarded £230,000 to local projects.
