Cricklewood railway bridge, outside Cricklewood Thameslink Station, received a makeover recently with a bold new sign now welcoming residents and visitors to the area.

The transformation was completed despite a weekend of wet weather and has delighted residents and local business owners who have shown their enthusiasm for the project on social media.

The project was spearheaded by local group, NorthWestTwo Residents’ Association, who received funding from Govia Thameslink Railway’s Passenger Benefit Fund.

It was also supported by a range of organisations in the area, including Network Rail, Wood Street Walls, Tate Technical, B&Q, Dutch and Dutch. Barnet Council’s Highways Team, along with contractors Conway Aecom, also supported the project by helping to facilitate the road closures needed to complete the art work.

NorthWestTwo Residents’ Association Secretary Marie Hancock said: “The concerted effort, catalysed through the GTR Passenger Benefit Fund, has been welcomed locally in a place trisected by three local authorities. The new signage is a marker for the station and town centre and puts Cricklewood on the map.”

Councillor Anne Clarke, Childs Hill Ward, added: “This is an excellent addition and a very warm welcome to Cricklewood’s Town Centre! Cricklewood is so lucky to have such dedicated residents who consistently strive to improve the area. This really brightens the area, thank you very much to all involved.”
