A series of 281 apartments have been approved by Barnet Council, in another major step forward for the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.

On Monday 1 March the Strategic Planning Committee approved the reserved matters for the layout, scale, appearance, access, and landscaping for Plot 14 which is the first plot development in Phase 2 (South) of Brent Cross Town. A public consultation took place in December last year.

The scheme also included the designs for a new Neighbourhood Square, which will feature landscaped areas with seating and space for local events to take place.

As the new park town develops, Plot 14 will be located in the Market Quarter Development Zone at the heart of Brent Cross Town.

Plot 14 will feature a series of buildings between one and 12 storeys high, all arranged around a private residential garden. On the ground floor there will be cafes, restaurants and shops facing the new Neighbourhood Square, making it an active and vibrant place.

The development is proposed as a purpose-built rental scheme, often known as Build to Rent (BTR), where the intention is to offer tenancies to residents for longer terms, typically three years or more, and where the whole block is coordinated and managed by a single management company. Three maisonettes will be at ground level, with single-floor apartments on the upper levels, and they will range from studio apartments to three-bedroom homes. The scheme includes amenities for tenants including a swimming pool and gym.
