Whitefield Estate
About the Whitefield Estate Relocation
As part of the changes happening in the area, we’ve purpose built new replacement homes for residents that previously lived in the high-rise and low-rise buildings on the estate.
You’ll find information about the replacement homes built on Brent Terrace for residents in the former low-rise buildings here and you can read about Conductor House, at Brent Cross Town which was built for residents of the high-rise buildings here.
Whitefield Estate Legacy
The Whitefield Estate, and neighbouring communities, are a key part of the history and identity of the Brent Cross Cricklewood development area. With the relocation of residents living in the former low-rise and high-rise buildings on the Whitefield Estate to brand new homes close by, and with a vibrant and rich history all around the surrounding area, we want to ensure the legacy of this community is reflected as we look towards a new era.
We are looking to launch an oral histories project with a community steering group set up to help capture and tell the stories of the local area.
If you are interested in joining the group, please contact us via the contact form here or by email at transformingbx@barnet.gov.uk
Works Schedule
The demolition of the low-rise buildings was completed last year.
Now residents have relocated to their new properties at nearby Brent Cross Town, demolition of the high-rise buildings are due to commence in the Summer.
As part of our site preparation works, we are requesting that cars be moved from the Estate Car Park to Whitefield Avenue. The early phase of construction works will include putting hoarding up around the estate to facilitate the demolition and enable the delivery of these works.
The demolition of the Whitefield Estate is part of the wider Brent Cross Town redevelopment and will be progressed according to the planning permission granted for the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. We will update these pages with more details on the works in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about the works please contact us via the contact form here or by email at transformingbx@barnet.gov.uk
