Next week, something special is coming to Brent Cross as Stranger Things: The Experience throws open its doors at the new Troubadour Brent Cross Studios at Brent Cross Town.

At the site of the former Toys ‘R’ Us on Tilling Road, the Stranger Things immersive experience will bring a new kind of magic within these walls which have stood empty since the store closed in 2018.

The Stranger Things Experience

The experience opens on Thursday 18 August and gives fans of the hit Netflix series the chance to be part of their own Stranger Things story and interact with the show’s heroes, villains and monsters. There will be a variety of locations to explore including the Upside Down and Hawkins Laboratory, Scoops Ahoy and the Palace Arcade. 80’s nostalgia is also promised with food, drink, merchandise, and interactive performances.

The experience is recommended for children over the age of 13 and is a walk away from the Brent Cross underground station. It is a ticketed event which is selling out fast. More information, including how to book, is available at www.strangerthings-experience.com

Troubadour Brent Cross Studios – Skills and Employment

In December last year, Related Argent and Barnet Council, the joint venture partnership delivering Brent Cross Town announced the deal with Troubadour Theatres.

The theatre and film studios, which specialise in temporary performance venues are now set to open a 150,000 sq ft TV and film studio. Featuring offices and workshops, Troubadour Brent Cross Studios on Tilling Road, will bring a vibrant community of international film, media, entertainment businesses and professionals to the area.

Stranger Things: The Experience, run by Netflix and Fever, is the first event to take place and will bring a boost to the local economy through carefully managed visitor numbers, and a new awareness of the transformation happening in the Brent Cross and Cricklewood areas.

Effort has gone in to refurbishing and recycling as many materials as possible, and while the teams are installing new state-of-the-art equipment, you’ll still see remnants of the much-loved Toys ‘R’ Us store in the back rooms of the building.

More importantly, it not only promises to create jobs but also to deliver a new Skills Academy that will enable local residents to be trained in the film and television industry. Working alongside Barnet Council’s employment and skills team, and our partners Related Argent, an estimated 150 training sessions are planned in the first three years at Troubadour Brent Cross Studios.

Barnet Council’s teams are also working with Middlesex University, Barnet and Southgate College and local employers to help promote careers in the film and TV industry to young people in the borough. They are also working with the industry to develop more opportunities in this exiting and growing creative sector.
