Meet The Buyer at Brent Cross
April 25, 2024
On Wednesday 16 April, Brent Cross Town hosted Barnet Council’s latest Meet the Buyer event for local construction companies.
The Meet the Buyer events are a great opportunity for local small and medium enterprises to meet with some of Barnet Council’s contractors to introduce them to development opportunities. These events are regularly used by developers to promote their procurement opportunities and requirements, to find new suppliers, connect with old ones or to lay the foundations for future partnerships.
This event is part of Barnet’s construction supply chain support project, working with nearly 100 suppliers from a wide variety of trades and helping them win more work and grow their businesses. During the event, there were 31 suppliers from 25 small companies who met with buyers working on major new build and property maintenance, as well as repair projects across the borough.
Niall Walton, Project Director for design and signage company Landmark, attended the event and said: I found it a really useful morning, meeting new potential buyers leading on major projects across the borough. Landmark transforms outdoor spaces with signage and furniture and Barnet’s construction supply chain project has already helped us win work on the Brent Cross Town development, as well as Brent Cross West Station.
Overall, there were a total of 73 supplier-buyer meetings at the event, with many positive reviews praising how useful they find these events which the council arranges.
In future, as well as providing 6,700 new homes, Brent Cross Town will create 25,000 jobs, and provide retail, leisure and community facilities all within the footprint of predominantly underused industrial area. And where possible we hope at least 20% of the people working across the site are local residents of Barnet or the neighbouring boroughs of Brent and Camden.
Barnet Council is leading the ambitious Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme, and bringing together partners from across multiple industries to provide job opportunities is a key part of our ambition.
Our joint venture partners, Related Argent, are committed to working with the council in using the local supply chain and helping more Barnet companies benefit from investment taking place across the borough.
