Join the Women into Construction programme

Are you a woman living in Brent, Barnet or Camden and interested in a career in construction? If so, Brent Cross Town is offering free, high-quality training and placements for women with industry leading construction companies.
We know that the construction industry can be a challenge for women to enter, but can offer a rewarding career path, that’s why we are excited to announce the launch of this programme that gives local women aged 19 and above a great opportunity to gain experience in the industry Financial support for travel and childcare whilst on programme will be provided by Women Into Construction.
Women into Construction is an organisation that promotes gender equality in construction. This new career programme is being delivered in collaboration with The Skills Centre, and is sponsored by Brent Cross Town, a partnership between Barnet Council and Related Argent to build a new park town.
The programme starts on Monday 17 June and lasts for five weeks. This includes:
Week 1: Employability training
Week 2: Speed networking
Week 3: Construction related training including CSCS card
Week 4 and 5: Work placement on site
Employers who will be participating and providing exciting work placements as part of this programme are from the best construction providers in the UK, such as Galldris, JRL, Munnelly, Principle, Smart, St. George & Willerby. You will gain plenty of skills during the work placement, including site management, document control and administration. You will also work closely with site roles like mechanical and electrical, landscaping, traffic marshall and welfare.

Councillor Anne Clarke, Barnet Council Cabinet Member for Community Wealth Building, and Cricklewood Ward Member said: “There is a wealth of opportunity in the construction industry and one of the most ambitious regeneration programmes in Europe is right of our doorstep. We want to make sure women in the borough are equally able to access opportunities across the development and I welcome this new scheme which will ensure local women are well-equipped and supported to consider a career in construction.”

Brent Cross Town is the new park town for Barnet, at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. It is being delivered in partnership between Related Argent and Barnet Council.
