Brent Cross Town’s Lights Switch On

December 6, 2024

Last week, Brent Cross Town hosted their third annual winter lights switch on at Claremont Park, which marked a joyful start to the festive season.

Thank you to everyone who joined this celebration, especially to the local school children who sang Christmas carols beautifully. We had lovely performances from Claremont Primary School and Whitefield School students who brought the festive spirit before the Oompah brass band took over.

Students and teachers from Mapledown were invited during the day for a special event before the crowds came in, where the brass band played festive songs and children danced in Claremont Park

We were also joined by parents, local residents as well as Cricklewood Ward Councillors, Councillor Anne Clarke and Councillor Alan Schneiderman who led the crowd in an enthusiastic countdown to light the magnificent tree.

Barnet Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts & Sports, and Cricklewood Ward Member, Councillor Anne Clarke, said: “It was lovely to see and be a part of a special annual event that brings the community together. Well done and thank you to students from Claremont Primary School and Whitefield School for their wonderful performances and happy holidays to all.”

A speech was also given after the carols by Morwenna Hall, an Executive Director at Related Argent. Attendees were able enjoy the evening with mulled wine, hot chocolate, and seasonal treats provided by Gussy’s, whilst the Oompah brass band played music.
