Brent Cross West exceeds expectations
December 10, 2025
Today (Wednesday 10 December) we’re celebrating Brent Cross West’s second anniversary and the 1.2 million journeys that have been taken to and from the new station.
Since opening, Brent Cross West station has exceeded expectations with passenger journeys rising by an impressive 41% this year. Reaching 533,000 journeys in its first year of operation and 754,000 in year two.
The passenger figures released this week reflect our commitment to ensuring our existing community benefits from infrastructure delivered early in the ambitious Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.
As well as connecting central London to Brent Cross in as little as 15 minutes, a key feature of the station includes a new public overbridge, which provides the first pedestrian access across this stretch of the Midland Main Line since it was first built in the 19th century.
As the gateway to Brent Cross Town, we expect passenger journeys to continue to grow as the development continues to welcome more residents and visitors and people look to more sustainable modes of transport.
Councillor Alan Schneiderman, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change for Barnet Council, said: “The opening of Brent Cross West has not only transformed the way residents get around the area, and improved connections in and out of central London, but it has also played a key role in unlocking further investment for local development. It’s great to see Brent Cross West becoming the well-loved, well-used new station the council intended it to be.”
Barnet Council led the delivery of Brent Cross West, which opened on 10 December 2023, making it one of the first local authorities in England to deliver a rail infrastructure project of this scale.
Thameslink Infrastructure Director Pete Carbery added: “We worked in close collaboration with Barnet Council and Network Rail on the construction of this, our newest, station on the Thameslink route, and we’re delighted it’s proving so popular. The continued rise in passenger numbers shows just how valuable this station is to the community, helping to boost local businesses, support new jobs, and contribute to wider economic growth in the area.”
