Brent Cross West opening date announced

November 10, 2023

Barnet Council has today (Friday 10 November) announced that London’s newest main line station, Brent Cross West, will be open from Sunday 10 December 2023.

The 7,000 square metre, four platform Brent Cross West station in North London will sit between Cricklewood and Hendon stations on the Midland Main Line.

Thameslink trains will connect central London to Brent Cross in as little as 12 minutes, with up to eight trains an hour at peak times. There will be direct connections to Luton Airport as well connecting to Elizabeth Line services via Farringdon station.

The station will also connect areas of Barnet and Brent via a new overbridge, which will be free to access 24/7. A150-year landmark, the overbridge will provide the first pedestrian access across this stretch of the Midland Main Line since it was first built in the 19th century.

Last month, Barnet Council released a ‘first look video’ showing what the impressive new station will look like.

The new station is essential to unlocking wider development in the area and has been designed as a gateway to a new neighbourhood called Brent Cross Town, a 180-acre, net zero development being delivered in partnership between Barnet Council and Related Argent. Brent Cross Town will deliver 6,700 new homes, 3 million sq ft of offices creating space for 25,000 employees, along with a new high street.

Councillor Alan Schneiderman, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, and Cricklewood Ward Member, said: “The new Brent Cross West station is fundamental to our plans to transform the local area. We look forward to this impressive new station opening soon, providing new ways for people to visit our brilliant borough and additional, sustainable ways for local people to travel.”
