Celebrate Railway200 with Us
October 29, 2025
Join us on Friday 21 November at Brent Cross Town to celebrate 200 years since the birth of the modern railway in the UK.
Railway 200 is a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the modern railway in the UK, and as part of this celebration, we’re teaming up with Thameslink to create a time capsule that will hold items connecting the past, present, and future and we want you to be part of it!
Share your suggestions
We’re looking to include a range of items in the time capsule, which for size reference, is close to the size of a fire extinguisher. Items can vary from digital photos and videos which we can store in a USB, to printed photos that show life in the Brent Cross Cricklewood area, polaroids, old and new maps, local newspapers, perhaps old train tickets as well as new ones. We’re open to your suggestions to help us decide what else should go inside – think ‘what would the future me want to discover in 100 years’ time?’.
Join our celebratory event and help us bury the time capsule
We’ll be hosting a celebratory event on Friday 21 November at 11am starting at the Visitor Pavilion, 145 Claremont Road, NW2 1FE and we hope you will join us.
We’ll hear from Thameslink colleagues about Railway200 and make our way to Claremont Park to bury the time capsule. This will be a great chance to come together as a community, reflect on how far we’ve come, and leave a legacy for the future.
If you have any ideas for the time capsule or would like to get involved, please email transformingbx@barnet.gov.uk
