Claremont Park filled with Colours

September 18, 2024

On Saturday 14 September, local residents and visitors came together to join Brent Cross Town’s ‘Paint the Maze’ workshop, which was part of The London Mural Festival.

The London Mural Festival is an annual street art celebration in London that takes place during September and includes over 100 murals to explore. This year’s theme was around ‘connection’ and bringing together communities, which Brent Cross Town successfully did.

The ‘Paint the Maze’ workshop was held at Claremont Park between 11am to 4pm and over 400 people from the local community and across the city took part in creating the colourful large mural. The workshop was led by the talented artist and doodle maker, HATCH, who encouraged all adults and children to participate.

Children who took part in the workshop also had the chance to have free face painting as part of the celebration. Cricklewood ward members, Councillor Alan Schneiderman and Councillor Anne Clarke also joined the workshop.

Barnet Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts & Sports, and Cricklewood Ward Member, Councillor Anne Clarke, said: “It was lovely to get involved and see locals and visitors come together to create a large colourful mural that celebrates Brent Cross Town’s growing art and culture. Everyone got stuck right in, from adults to children, and HATCH took great leadership of the activity. I look forward to seeing Brent Cross Town make a memorable stamp on London’s art and culture and reflecting the diverse communities within Barnet.”

The Maze installation, which was first launched in June, has been seen in person and enjoyed by thousands of locals and visitors. There is still enough time to see The Maze, including the new ‘Paint the Maze’ mural, which will remain in Claremont Park for visitors to enjoy until Sunday 29 September.

Brent Cross Town is the new park town at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme, which is being delivered in partnership between Related Argent and Barnet Council.
