Cricklewood Town Heroes Exhibition

February 15, 2022

If you’ve been out and about in Cricklewood this week you may have noticed a new exhibition in the shop fronts of the Co-Op, Junction Cafe and Bifulco that celebrates our local heroes.

Barnet Council’s Town Centre Heroes exhibition, under the theme of “Not all heroes wear capes”, is part of the Discover Barnet campaign. It celebrates the people behind Barnet’s town centres that have gone above and beyond to support their community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Cricklewood, we’re celebrating mother-and-daughter surplus distributors Cathy and Jade, library rescuer and garden creator Sarah, cab driver Frank and fishmonger Amir, alongside local project initiator Marie, supermarket team manager Nadia, student halls security guard Hakim and the community-supporting Clitterhouse Farm Project team.

Come and explore the inspiring stories of our Town Centre Heroes in person, you can visit the Cricklewood trail at:

  • The Co-op at the A5 Junction on Cricklewood Lane, NW2 3HD;
  • Bifulco and Junction Café on Cricklewood Lane, NW2 2DX;

The wider Barnet Council’s Town Centre Heroes exhibition features portraits of more than 50 residents nominated by their fellow community members. Barnet’s heroes represent a diversity of ordinary people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and professions, from shopkeepers and pharmacists to vaccination volunteers and faith leaders.

The outdoor exhibition is now live across Burnt Oak, Edgware, Finchley Central, North Finchley, Golders Green and Chipping Barnet, see the full locations here.
