Have your say: Brent Cross West’s Public Realm

January 5, 2022

London’s newest train station, Brent Cross West, is due to be completed this year and the station’s western entrance will be located close to Decathlon and Edgware Road.  The team are now looking for views from residents and businesses on the public realm in this area of the station.

The public realm consultation launched today (Monday 10 January) and will be open until Monday, 31 January at 11:59pm.

The proposals

The design aims to create an attractive, welcoming, safe environment. Although the space is limited we are proposing to include landscaping, high quality paving, seating, waste bins and lighting.

Other flexible features include cycle parking to accommodate a range of cycles, a coffee cart or other retail offer, an accessible drop-off bay, and raised zebra crossing which can all be adapted as the wider area changes in future.

Artists impression of what the public realm outside the western entrance could look like.

Have your say

You can see the plans and complete our short survey on Engage Barnet.

Feedback will then be used to refine the public realm design before a planning application is submitted.

About the project

The Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme is transforming the area with a vibrant new town centre, parks, leisure and cultural venues. The development will be supported by excellent new transport links with improved highways, walking and cycling routes and the new Brent Cross West station which is due to be completed this year.

Positioned on the Midland Main Line between Hendon and Cricklewood, Brent Cross West will provide journeys from Bedford to Brighton, connecting the local area to central London in just 12 minutes and proving direct services to Luton and Gatwick airports. A new pedestrian and cyclist overbridge will also provide a route over the Midland Main Line for residents on the east and west of Brent Cross, providing better connectivity in the area to and from the new Brent Cross Town development.
