Have Your Say: Retirement Village

February 27, 2024

Last year, Brent Cross Town announced plans to deliver the first retirement village (Plot 22) in the new neighbourhood, and now we want to hear your feedback on the plans.

The homes have been designed for later living, which will add to the growing mix of housing options available as part of the transformation of the area. In addition to the homes, the retirement village will host a range of private and public facilities alongside a parade of new retail shops

The plans for Plot 22 are fantastic and we’re excited to show you the proposals for a Mayfield Village (an Audley Group building type), as well as the retail, café/bistro, village hall and health and wellness spaces being considered.

The online consultation will be live from Friday 1 March, and there will be two consultation events at the Visitor Pavilion on Claremont Road, NW2 1FE on:

  • Sunday 3 March, 10am to 2pm
  • Tuesday 5 March, 2pm to 7pm

Whether you’re interested in a retirement place for yourself, or know someone who may be, this will be a great way to feed back to us with your views. Also, if you are local and want to know more about the extra facilities this place will offer to the wider community, please do participate in this consultation.

Members of the project team, including representatives from Audley Group, Brent Cross Town and architects Life3A, will be available at the events to answer any questions you may have about the proposals. You can also enjoy some tea and cake.

If you are unable to attend, you can view the online designs and take part in the consultation which will be live from Friday 1 March 2024 on bxt.uk/consultation. Alternatively, you can also email bxtplot22@devcomms.co.uk or call 0800 080 3173 to provide feedback.

What happens next?

Following this consultation, the project team will take time to consider your feedback as they progress the final designs for this new building and consider the retail space on the ground floor level. Once feedback has been reviewed, the team will begin preparing a Reserved Matters Application (RMA) to submit to Barnet Council’s planning department.

Councillor Ross Houston, Deputy Leader of Barnet Council and Cabinet Member for Homes and Regeneration, said: “Plot 22 is an exciting addition to the range of housing options that will become available in the Brent Cross Town neighbourhood. It’s not just a high specification retirement village which exemplifies our commitment to building a place where everyone can flourish, it also includes new retail units, a public café / bistro and other facilities that will enhance the area and be enjoyed by people living close by. I encourage everyone to see these fantastic proposals and take part.”

About Plot 22

This retirement village will be made possible through a partnership with Audley Group, the UK’s leading provider of Integrated Retirement Communities and Senior Living Investment Partners. Plot 22 will form part of Audley Group’s second Mayfield Village, a brand designed to expand current retirement living to a much wider audience, giving more people more choice over how and where they live as they get older.

The building will include between 150 to 160 new homes, as well as a mix of retail shops along the new road it will be located on, called Merchant Street.

Brent Cross Town is the new park town being delivered in partnership between Related Argent and Barnet Council, at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.
