Join a Community River Clean Up
September 23, 2025
Help look after your local area and protect wildlife by joining Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm’s big community river clean-up day on Sunday 28 September.
Whether you’re taking part in the community clean-up alone, or with family, friends or partner, the Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm team welcomes as many helping hands to clean and remove unwanted items out of Clitterhouse Brook (located at the bottom of Clitterhouse Playing Fields). Under 18-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult.
The meeting point will be outside Clitterhouse Farm Cafe, Claremont Road, NW2 1AP from 1.30pm to 4pm. Wellies and gloves will be provided, however if you have your own, please do bring them with you.
This clean-up will be a great opportunity for you to meet other residents and make a real impact together in protecting the planet. The aim for the clean-up is to stop unnatural chemicals seep into the water which currently causes micro-plastic pollution. By removing rubbish from the river, this will improve the water quality of the river and we will see wildlife naturally reappear.
After the clean-up, there will be a panel discussion hosted inside the cafe with environmental mediator Lawrence Kershan to discuss how we can take care of our planet on a daily basis. Tea and cake will be served for everyone to enjoy.

Connecting communities
Are you involved in local community groups and activities, and would you like the council to help spotlight what you do, raise your profile and attract a wider cross-section of people to come along?
Barnet Council is celebrating the range of communities across the borough and as part part of the Connecting Communities campaign, you can share with us your groups’ events or activities. Please email connectingcommunities@barnet.gov.uk and tell us about your group and why you want to be part of the Connecting Communities campaign.
