Junction works to be completed next month
September 20, 2021
Our programme of highways improvements is nearly complete at the A5 Cricklewood Broadway junction with Cricklewood Lane and Chichele Road.
With works scheduled to be completed in the next few weeks, our team has worked hard over the past year to carry out the improvements with as little disruption as possible. The project will create additional traffic capacity at the junction, along with other improvements including signal modernisation, footway improvements, and new controlled pedestrian crossing facilities.
The works began in October 2020 and have included demolishing the four-storey building at the corner of Cricklewood Lane and Cricklewood Broadway to provide the space to widen the junction. We also introduced a series of temporary one-way road closures on Cricklewood Lane to provide more direct crossing facilities for pedestrians. These closures were removed at the end of August and Cricklewood Lane was opened in both directions.
All the junction kerb re-alignment has now been completed and we are in the final stages of the improvements.
Over the coming weeks we will be installing new signals and resurfacing the footways. We will also resurface the carriageway over five nights from 27 September; this will require the temporary closure of Cricklewood Lane and Chichele Road. Clear signage and diversions will be in place.
The works will be completed, as scheduled, by mid-October.
