Lights on at Brent Cross Town

December 6, 2022

Last week, with the help from students from our local primary and secondary schools, we turned on our winter lights at Claremont Park. The lights are now on and filling the park with festive joy until the end of the year.

Thank you to everyone who joined this celebration, especially to the children from Claremont Primary School and Whitefield School who sang beautifully. The Christmas carols and festive songs included This Little Light of Mine, Hallelujah, Merry Christmas and more. We were also joined by parents, residents and Cricklewood Ward Councillors, Councillor Anne Clarke and Councillor Alan Schneiderman.

After the carols and a speech given by Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Ross Houston, attendees were able to pop by festive stalls at the park, including those run by some of our favourite local businesses Happy Face Pizza and Gussy’s Ice Cream whilst a brass band played music.

In addition to the switch-on event, during the day we were joined by Mapledown School. The students and teachers visited the Brent Cross Town Visitor Pavilion, where the brass band played festive songs and children danced in Claremont Park.

Councillor Ross Houston, Deputy Leader of Barnet Council, said: “The winter lights switch on marked the end of a busy and important year at Brent Cross Town. It was great to see the community come together with local school children stealing the show. Well done to students from Claremont Primary School and Whitefield School for their wonderful performance, and best wishes for the Christmas and New Year holidays to all.”
