Make Barnet the Borough of Culture

August 4, 2023

Barnet Council has launched a campaign to become London’s Borough of Culture in 2027 and we need your help to make it happen.

Our goal is to make Barnet an even more vibrant and inclusive place for art and culture. If the bid to become the Borough of Culture is successful, Barnet Council will receive £1.35m in funding from the Greater London Authority, which 30% of will be matched by the council and through partnerships and sponsorships.

The funding will be used to deliver a year-long programme of exciting cultural activities and events for everyone in the borough; ranging from art, literature, film and theatre through to sport, music, spoken word, events and food festivals.

To make this happen, the council is putting together a ‘Cultural Canvas’ which gathers residents’ ideas on how you would like to see Barnet transform into a Borough of Culture. Your ideas and suggestions will help shape the council’s bid and the Culture Strategy.

Share your ideas by filling in the survey here or by using the hashtag #OurBarnetCanvas on social media.
