New apprenticeship at Brent Cross Town

October 11, 2021

Another apprenticeship opportunity has been created for a young person who wants to help build our new park town in north London.

Galldris is advertising an 18-month Level 2 groundworker apprenticeship on the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. No previous experience or qualifications are required, as Galldris and a training provider will offer the candidate the training required plus the qualification of a CSCS card.

This apprenticeship gives the opportunity to ‘learn while you earn’ in one of the key roles in the construction process of our new park town Brent Cross Town.

Groundworkers are the first trade onto a construction and civil engineering site, and they work closely with supervisors and engineers in interpreting design specifications to prepare the site ready for the structural building works to take place. They continue their work throughout the construction, working with all on-site construction trades.

The role includes setting out and preparing the sub-surfaces ready for the structural work to begin, installing drainage systems, concreting, constructing roads and pathways, and carrying out the finished hard landscaping. Apprentices are expected to attend all teaching sessions and complete work in their own time. Teaching sessions will be both in the classroom and on site completing practical tasks.

Galldris is one of the UK’s leading construction companies, and has recruited a number of young people into apprenticeships as part of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. These include Himnish Bhudia, who lives in Brent and joined the company following an initial two-week work trial during which he admits to having been a “complete novice”. However he is now a valued member of the construction team and you can read Himnish’s story here.
