New Office Building Plans Approved
July 3, 2023
Plans for the second office building (referred to as Plot 19) at Brent Cross Town have been approved by Barnet Council following a consultation earlier this year.
The nine-storey office building, designed by Architects Bennetts Associates, will be located at 2 Copper Square, close to the new Brent Cross West station. Plot 19 will create a unique and sustainable place for office workers, as well as provide retail space to be enjoyed by those who live close by, work in or visit Brent Cross Town.
Plot 19 will also contribute to the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme’s commitment to enhancing sustainability, as well as meeting Barnet Council and Brent Cross Town’s ambitious net zero carbon target. To achieve this, the building will be constructed using a full-timber structural frame, solar panels and use off-site manufacturing and construction methods to reduce the amount of carbon emissions associated with the construction and operation of the building.
This building will be a new example of sustainable construction, setting industry-leading targets for carbon reduction, operational efficiency and wellbeing for locals, workers and other users.
The construction of Plot 19 is also expected to provide up to 500 job opportunities, with a commitment across the regeneration scheme to ensure at least 20% of the workforce are from Barnet, Brent and Camden. Once completed, the new development at Plot 19 is anticipated to support around 850 operational jobs, both through the office space created and the new retail offering.
About Plot 19
The office building will have eight workspace floors and a large communal roof terrace on the ninth floor. The building will sit close to the much-loved local Claremont Park and two new public squares which will form a gateway to the rest of the neighbourhood. There will also be retail space on the ground floor for locals, visitors, and workers. While the retail operators will be decided in the future, the team at Brent Cross Town is committed to finding the right fit for the community.
Matt Flood, Development Director for Brent Cross Town, says, “Brent Cross Town represents an incredible opportunity to be part of a whole new London neighbourhood – and one that is 12 minutes from King’s Cross by train, run as net zero, and with an amazing mix of sport and play, green spaces, education and culture. Delivering full-timber buildings in the UK is ambitious, and therefore can be challenging, however, it’s important for a zero-carbon future that we continually innovate. 2 Copper Square will offer an amazing opportunity for a business to make a tangible statement about their own ESG commitments and values.”
With five buildings, including residential and student rooms already in construction and welcoming residents at the end of 2024, Plot 19 will be the second office building completed at Brent Cross Town.
Plot 19 will also be located next to the new Brent Cross West station opening later this year which means that locals and commuters will be connected to central London in as little as twelve minutes.
