Community Planting Day: Wrap-up
March 28, 2025
Last weekend, in partnership with Brent Cross Town, Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm hosted a lovely afternoon of family-friendly planting workshops.
Neighbours, families and visitors popped by to take part in free planting workshops that were facilitated by Our Yard volunteers. As well as creating wildflower seed bombs and bird feeders to take home, participants also helped sow a colourful wildflower meadow with professional landscapers from Willerby. Children also took part in a creative Spring Tree Trail.
Volunteers, families and our Cricklewood Ward Councillors Anne Clarke and Alan Schneiderman also came together to plant the final tree out of 84 trees being planted across Clitterhouse Playing Fields. Local children wasted no time getting stuck in with planting the tree, as well as other bulbs across the fields, their contributions will be a lasting legacy for years to come.
Anika, Garden Manager at Clitterhouse Farm said: “A big thank you to the Farm volunteers, the team from Brent Cross Town and Willerby and everyone who came along to help with the planting! It was wonderful to see the community come together and get involved to increase biodiversity in our neighbourhood. The newly planted trees will provide a vital refuge for birds and wildlife, whilst the wildflower meadow will play an important part in creating a wider pollinator corridor across Barnet. A beautiful, sunny day made the event even more special.”
