Shape your new community space and events
October 30, 2024
Have your say on a new community space we’re developing at Brent Cross Town, and tell us about the facilities and activities that are important to you.
We’re planning to open a community space at Brent Cross Town in 2025, a new place for people living in the area to make use of. We have an exciting opportunity to work with residents and local groups to shape this community space and get your valuable input into the type of services and activities that we could provide there.
The community space will be located on the ground floor of one of the first residential buildings at Brent Cross Town, and just a short walk from Claremont Park. It will be more than twice the size of Spruce and Larch café in the Visitor Pavilion (that’s around the size of half a basketball court). This community space is one of several community-focused places planned to open in the future as the town grows over the years.
Would you like bookable space for family events, access to online council services, or somewhere for your local book group? Or a base for a youth project, for arts and crafts, parent and child groups or something entirely different! Whatever it is, our aim is to hear from as many local people as possible so that we can develop spaces, events and activities that everyone can feel a part of.
We also want your views on the types of events and activities you would like to see included in our community events programme next year and beyond.
Barnet Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts & Sports, and Cricklewood Ward Member, Councillor Anne Clarke said: “We are calling on local people to help us shape a new community space planned for Brent Cross Town. Your ideas are important to us, and we want as many people as possible to tell us about the activities, services and events you would want to see available. Please take part in our consultation online or pick up a paper copy at the Visitor Pavilion.”
How to have your say
We want to hear from residents and resident associations, businesses, community groups, and anyone else locally that might use a new community space. You can complete our online questionnaire here until 31st Dec 2024.
If you would like to request a paper questionnaire or another format, please email transformingbx@barnet.gov.uk or telephone 020 8359 5355. If you would like someone to help you complete the questionnaire or need more information, please contact us using one of the above methods.
Throughout the development of the community space at Brent Cross Town, we will also be running a series of discussion groups with residents and community organisations from different backgrounds. If you are interested in being part of these conversations, please email transformingbx@barnet.gov.uk and tell us you are interested.
What happens after the survey closes?
We will use the information provided about the community space to help us choose someone to operate the building and help us when designing a programme of activity. While we might not be able to provide all the services and activities the community tell us they would like in this one space, the feedback you give us will be important to help us shape the way other spaces and partnerships are created in the future.
Feedback on events at Brent Cross Town will be used to create our event programme for 2025.
