#TimeTogether Back at Brent Cross

October 17, 2023

For the second time running, Brent Cross Town has partnered with Women in Sport for the charity’s #TimeTogether campaign. As part of the campaign, Brent Cross Town are hosting free, fun sporting activities this half-term (between Saturday 21 and Sunday 29 October).

The #TimeTogether campaign aims to bring together mothers or important female figures with their teenage daughters, nieces, or granddaughters, to try new activities together. Following research by Women in Sport, a programme of events has been designed around the types of activities we think local people will enjoy, and at times we hope make it easy to join in.

About the Women in Sport research

Research done by Women in Sport over the past few years, they found that 1.3 million girls in the UK, who enjoyed sport in primary school, would drop out during their teenage years.

We know that some barriers girls and women face when participating in sports include fear of being judged, lack of role models and challenges of navigating puberty. So, through these events, we want to encourage more women and girls to participate in sport and experience the positive impact of exercising together.

Councillor Zahra Beg, Cabinet Member for Equalities, Voluntary & Community Sector, said: “I am delighted to see the Brent Cross Town’s partnership with Women in Sport back for a second year, ensuring more women and girls can access free, fun sporting activities in Barnet. Through the #TimeTogether campaign we can tackle some of the barriers women and girls face in getting into sport.”

Councillor Ammar Naqvi, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts & Sports, added: The #TimeTogether campaign brings a joyful and bonding experience for women and girls, and has plenty of mental and physical benefits by encouraging participation in sport and activity. I look forward to seeing more of these take place in our borough.”

This is the second year that Brent Cross Town has partnered with Women in Sport to run the #TimeTogether campaign in the local area. As well as encouraging women and girls to enjoy sport and activity together, research also shows achieving 60 minutes of activity each day can help you feel healthier and stronger.

Morwenna Hall, Partner at Related Argent, commented: “It is great to once again host a series of events at Brent Cross Town to support the #TimeTogether campaign. We are passionate about encouraging more women and girls to enjoy sport, addressing the clear imbalance and championing inclusivity to ensure that these groups feel inspired and confident to take part.”
