Backgound
Clitterhouse Playing Fields is at the heart of our vision for our new park town, a 44-acre park that will offer local people new opportunities to take part in sport and play. The playing fields will cover an area equivalent of 22 football pitches, and the existing planning permission which has been granted includes a range of traditional sport and play facilities plus a pavilion. Whether it’s enjoying a family picnic, a walk with your dog, a game of football with friends or just somewhere you can go and relax after a busy day, Clitterhouse Playing Fields will be an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming space that everyone will benefit from.
Three public consultations ran in October 2021, March 2022 and September 2022 inviting the community to share their thoughts on the designs of the playing fields. Almost 700 people in total visited the in-person exhibition events and viewed the consultation online. Your feedback, ideas and comments shared during the consultation periods have helped shape and refine the proposals for Clitterhouse Playing Fields.
In November 2022, Related Argent submitted a planning application for the proposed improvements to Clitterhouse Playing Fields to Barnet Council, as the Local Planning Authority, who carried out a six week statutory consultation. In October 2023, Councillors of the Strategic Planning Committee unanimously voted to approve the planning application.
You can find all the application documents by visiting Barnet Council Planning Team’s public access web page and using the case reference number 22/5617/FUL. You can read FAQs and more information on the plans for Clitterhouse Playing Fields here.
