Work begins on our first new homes

June 21, 2021

Construction started today (Monday 21 June) to build the first new homes of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.

These 47 homes at Plots 53 and 54 are part of our work to create a brand new community in north London, beginning with this range of two, three and four-bedroom homes. 31 will be for secure tenants who currently live in the nearby Whitefield Estate, and 16 will be for the resident owner-occupiers and Shared Ownership. The properties will be built and managed by our partners L&Q.

The homes will be based on a newly landscaped site between Brent Terrace and Clitterhouse Crescent. We have been working closely with both the new residents and their future neighbours, with a series of engagement events to explain both the works taking place and what the new homes will look like.

Early works on the new homes will include site set up, with hoarding going up around the plots over the next few weeks. Work will then begin to excavate the site and level the ground. Residents close by to the site have been notified about the planned construction programme and colleagues from L&Q have been visiting homes to answer any questions.

The transformation of the area is really starting to take shape, with work beginning last week on the new Claremont Park which will open in April next year. The new train station, Brent Cross West, will open in December 2022, and many other facilities, from leisure to retail, and the creation of 30,000 new jobs, will arrive as part of the new park town, Brent Cross Town.
