Have Your Say: future homes and open space

January 17, 2025

We’re pleased to share details of our latest public consultation which outlines plans for a future co-living building and a vibrant new public courtyard planned for Brent Cross Town.

We also reveal designs for a new green space called ‘Park Place’ that links Claremont Way to Clitterhouse Playing Fields, alongside improvements to the crossing on Claremont Road.

Read on to find out more about the plans and how you can help shape the designs for these new homes and open areas.

Plot 23 and a public courtyard

Plot 23 is a (proposed) co-living space located on the north side of the newly opened Merchant Street. This building sits next to Plot 22, which is the first later living accommodation at Brent Cross Town, with already a Reserved Matters Application approved; and Plot 24, which is yet to be consulted on and will have affordable and private housing. We want to hear your views on the plans for Plot 23, which will have accommodation designed for single person households of all ages, plus some units that will be made available exclusively to support local care-leavers at a more affordable rent level.

Between these three residential buildings will sit a public courtyard that is accessible for residents and visitors to walk through and spend time in. We want you to tell us your ideas for activities and play that could happen in the courtyard for young and old people to enjoy.

Claremont Way and Park Place

We are also consulting on the road position of Claremont Way. Originally, there were plans to change the alignment of the road, but now the proposal is to keep it as it is. This proposal also means that a new green space can be created (named ‘Park Place’) which will sit between Claremont Park and Clitterhouse Playing Fields. Improved pedestrian access, such as zebra and cycle crossings, are also part of this design.

An update on Clitterhouse Playing Fields

In 2022 and 2023, we ran consultations on Clitterhouse Playing Fields. Since being approved by Barnet Council in November 2023, some updates have been made to the design to improve its biodiversity, including planting, layout and footway designs. Come along to the consultation event or view the boards to learn more about these updates.

View the designs and talk to us

You can view the design boards of this consultation here, and provide your feedback online from Monday 20 January until Friday 7 February via the same link.

There will be a consultation event where you can learn more about the proposals at the Visitor Pavilion on Claremont Road, NW2 1FE on Sunday 26 January, from 12pm to 4pm.

Members of the project team, including representatives from Brent Cross Town, and the architects, will be available to answer any questions you may have about the proposals.

If you are unable to attend the sessions, copies of the boards will be on display for you to view and you can provide feedback via the website here. You can also email bxt@devcomms.co.uk or call 0800 080 3173.

What happens next?

Once the consultation period has ended, the Brent Cross Town team will review the feedback provided and use this to finalise the proposals, ahead of the submission of a planning application. You can find updates here once the application has been submitted.

Brent Cross Town is the new park town being delivered in partnership between Related Argent and Barnet Council, at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.
